Bettinardi Matt Kuchar Putter Model 1… fine craftsmanship!
Robert Bettinardi is known in the golf industry as a craftsman whose dedication to precision and innovation has taken his company Bettinardi Golf to become synonymous with quality in the world of golf. Fact is, Bettinardi Golf makes some of the finest putters ever milled blending art and performance. The Bettinardi Matt Kuchar Putter Model Series 1 and 2, available in either standard length or “arm lock” style, were designed specifically for PGA Tour player Matt Kuchar.
According to Bettinardi Golf, The Kuchar Model 1 Standard is designed as a heel toe weighted, face balanced putter with a wider profile. The Model 1 showcases our patented F.I.T. (Feel Impact Technology) face, which removes 55% of material from the face resulting in a remarkably soft feel at impact. This model has already made the winners circle this year at the WGC Match Play Championship and the 2013 Memorial Tournament! The Model 1 Arm Lock style features a double bend shaft with 2.5 shaft offset, while the conventional style features a 1 shaft offset. This beautiful putter is milled from proprietary Soft Carbon steel and boasts our non-corrosive Pewter P.V.D. finish.
We took out our Bettinardi Matt Kuchar putter Model 1 (Standard 35′ version) at our nearby Plantation Preserve putting green. For the past 6 months I have been using the Battinardi Signature series 5 and I can tell you that just like my putter the Bettinardi Matt Kuchar Model is a “work of art“. From the square mallet head to the beautiful heel-toe style the putter provides a confident appearance at address while Bettinardi’s precision-milled putter technology maximizes the club’s sweet spot, it just feels super soft to the touch!
That confidence translates into reality as the putter becomes a deadly weapon inside 10′. During our test I manage to make 10 out of 10 putts from variable distances inside 5′ feet, I was also virtually unstoppable at 10 out of 10 from inside 9′ feet and I finished my test 7 out of 10 from variable distances between 10′ to 18′ feet away. Imagine your confidence if you knew that it will be nearly impossible for you to three-putt from inside 20″ feet..
In the past I have tried both the arm-lock putting style and the belly style and maybe because I’m shorter than the average height I feel really awkward and physically incapable of putting. This is probably why Bettinardi Golf decided to produce 2 versions of the same putter, the standard at a 350 gram configuration and that arm lock version with 7* degrees of loft and 400 grams of head weight to compensate the longer shaft.
Over the past year I have become a real fan of Bettinardi Golf, I went from three putting once or twice on every round to counting how many rounds I could go without three putting… that’s how I measure performance!
