  • The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department has a history of turning disturbed land into natural and recreational areas for the enjoyment of the community. Osprey Point is no exception. The land where Osprey Point sits was previously used for both agricultural farming and shellrock mining and had been completely disturbed. In 2004 work began with the intention of making it into an Audubon International Classic Signature Golf Course. The Parks and Recreation Department increased the acres of natural habitat at the facility, enhanced environmental protection efforts on the site, switched to a more environmentally-friendly grass (Seashore Paspalum), and made commitments to maintain the facility under the strict operating guidelines established by Audubon International.   The property is located west...0December 20, 2012

    The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department has a history of turning disturbed land into natural and recreational areas for the enjoyment of the community. Osprey Point is no exception. The original Haig course, opened in 1980, and designed by George and Tom Fazio, was a tribute to five-time PGA champion Walter Hagen. The course was closed in April to prepare for a $1 million renovation. The greens and tee boxes were reconfigured but the original par-72 routing was kept in tact, a mix of classic golf architecture with modern design. The golf course was lengthened to over 7,000 yards and the bunkers were reshaped. The original Haig course, opened in 1980, and designed by George and Tom Fazio, was a tribute to five-time PGA champion Walter Hagen. The course was closed in April to prepare for a $1 million renovation. The greens and tee boxes were reconfigured but the original par-72 routing was kept in tact, a mix of classic golf architecture with modern design. The golf course was lengthened to over 7,000 yards and the bunkers were reshaped.
