USGA and R&A ban anchored putters…. Does this ruling helps the game? Today the USGA and R&A, governing bodies of our sport, announced the adoption of Rule 14-1b of the Rules of Golf, which prohibits anchoring to the club to your body in making a stroke. The new Rule will take effect January 1, 2016. For some, including myself, this decision is very controversial and it hurts our game more than it helps. Do we really need more rules? Long putters have won four of the last six major championships. Keegan Bradley won the 2011 PGA Championship, Webb Simpson won the 2012 U.S. Open, Ernie Els won the 2012 Open Championship and just weeks ago Adam Scott won the 2013...

The post USGA and R&A Ban Anchored Putters appeared first on South Florida Golf Magazine.

The staffer posted the picture on the Internet and it went viral. “What can I say, I was tired, my back hurt from sitting on the floor, and we were talking about relaxation and focusing,” Dufner explained. ” …...

The post Inside the Ropes Jason Dufnering appeared first on South Florida Golf Magazine.

The i-irons sit comfortably between the G-series (game improvement) and the players, blade-like S-series. Since their introduction to the market last year the irons have been in the hands of many Ping Golf Tour staffers like Angel Cabrera, Mark Wilson, Lee Westwood, Doug Labelle II, Scott Langley, Richard Lee and many other PGA Tour and European Tour players. The technology behind the Ping i20 irons is simple and very effective, make the long irons forgiving...

The post Ping i20 Irons Review appeared first on South Florida Golf Magazine.

Last year, Bubba Watson captured the Masters and Webb Simpson claimed the U.S. Open title, and for all three it was the first majors championship of their careers. It might be Matt Kuchar’s turn, perhaps as soon as next month in the U.S. Open at Merion. “I think the more comfortable you get winning tournaments, I’ve now got five wins, and I’d like to continue that going,” said the 34-year-old Kuchar, who is playing this week in the HP...

The post Inside the Ropes HP Byron Nelson appeared first on South Florida Golf Magazine.

Bubba Watson weighed in the subject last year when he withdrew before the tournament following a whirlwind month after his victory in one of the four bona fide major championships, the Masters. Had it been as important as a major, he would have been at TPC Sawgrass, the flagship event of the PGA Tour.

Callaway X Hot Pro Irons meet and exceeds players demands…. Back in December 2012 Callaway Golf announced the launch of its Callaway X Hot and Callaway X Hot Pro Irons. We were exited to see a counter-punch initiative aimed to challenge Taylormade’s Rocketbladez irons. Callaway’s award-winning R&D department set out to deliver measurable distance gains with these two new, aggressive irons. As soon as the box arrived at our offices I took an extended lunch break and headed to Plantation’s Preserve driving range. I got a chance to hit about 40 – 50 balls during my range session and shot after shot I was getting more and more impressed with these clubs. The Great White Course at Doral, a Greg Norman Signature Course, is a 7,171-yard, par-72 marvel situated in the heart of Miami just minutes away from MIA (Miami International Airport). The Great White Course is the only golf course of its kind in the Southeastern United States that utilizes coquina — crushed shells — as the primary design element on every hole. In designing the Great White, Norman blended strategically demanding fairways with hundreds of palm trees. He then laid out the course in a manner where water comes into play on 14 of the 18 holes, which makes for a challenging, but picturesque Great White Golf Course.
