Jacaranda Golf Club East Course a true gem in Plantation, FL

Updated May 15th, 2013 – Located just 3 blocks away west of the Westfield Broward Mall,  the challenging Jacaranda East has long been considered to be one of the top golf course facilities in Broward County.  Recently, after a 5 Million Dollar renovation, it has become one of the top golf courses in the State of Florida. A top public facility around the nation. jacaranda east review

Paspalum tee boxes and fairways provide the most playable surfaces for full swings and the introduction of the latest in Tif-Dwarf greens affords players the best putting surfaces available. Jacaranda Golf Club boasts two beautiful championship golf courses (east and west), a spacious targeted grass range, short game area with sand bunker, plus large practice green. Outside, The 19th Hole Bar and Grill; The Grille Room, a more formal restaurant, and clubhouse facilities including a nicely stocked pro shop, wonderfully appointed locker rooms with showers for men and women, banquet/outing facilities, plus a restaurant and lounge with outdoor patio.

We toured both tracks and found them in immaculate condition. The East course, frequently used as qualifying home of the Honda Classic and several US Open Qualifiers, features 5 sets of tee boxes that are quite evenly stretched. The layout gives golfers a great opportunity to choose a set that matches your game. The tips measure a formidable 7247 yards/133 slope, while alternate sets play to 6891 yards/128 slope, 6376 yards/122 slope for men and 142 for women, 5747 yards/119 slope for men and 125 for women, and 4923 yards with s slope of 110 for men and 118 for ladies.jacaranda cg east course review

Key Playing holes

Hole #7 (Par-4) 440 yards – This mammoth of a hole starts straight with a gently roll to the left. There is a solitary bunker on the left side of the fairway that must be avoided at all costs. The easterly wind will push your ball slightly to the right side of the fairway near the lake. The water is reachable from all tees and the slope kicks the drive right so long hitters may find the lagoon coming into play on the drive. The green is approachable and slopes slightly right in the rear. We teed up with a 3-wood and played our shots just right of the fairway bunker and short of the lake, we faced a second shot somewhat long but at least we were in the fairway. The gently breeze helped us quite a bit and we were able to par and continue the the next challenging hole.Jacaranda GC East Course Review

Hole #8 (Par-3) 257 yards – Another massive hole awaits just before the turn. With a good measure of downwind it took all of us a 3-wood to be able to reach this deceptive long par-3. The bunker to your left is very deceptive as its not even in play because is located 40 yards short of the green. The green is sloped back to front and par here is king! Hole #11 (Par-5) 582 yards – And just when you thought you were safe from difficult holes here comes hole #11. Another incredible hole in this gorgeous golf course starts with a gently roll to the left, then slightly turns to the right and as you get closer to the green it turns again to the right. The fairway is wide and at 582 yards, always playing against the wind, you are going to need all the help you can get. Avoid all fairway bunkers, there is a canal that runs left of the fairway but for most people is out of reach. Depending on where you approach the green, the view of the pin may be slightly masked. The back left pin is the most challenging. Best of luck kiddo!Jacaranda GC East Course review

Challenging course in consistently great shape. Always fun to play, using many clubs in the bag. This local is a big fan.
