La Quinta, Ca – The sixth and final round of the 2012 PGA Tour Q-School was Monday, and 26 players get to go on onto the PGA Tour . Dong-hwan Lee of South Korea was the medalist at this year’s (and final) Q-School, posting a sizzling  67 on Monday for a final  25-under. The 25 year old Dong gets a nice $50,000 check and a full status for one year at the big leagues. Dong was a two-time winner on the Japan Golf Tour. South Floridians making in the Top-26 were West Palm Beach’s Steve LeBrun who turned professional in 2000 and is a regular on the Minor League Tour,  Miami resident and 2-time heart transplant recipient Erik Compton and Web.com Tour player and Jupiter resident Kris Blanks.

This year will mark the final PGA Tour Q-School. Next year the PGA Tour will only provide cards to the secondary Web.com Tour. The players who failed to reach the FedExCup playoffs will meet in a series of four tournaments called “The Finals,” and the 25 players who earn the most money from those events will get their 2014 cards.

Amongst  the notables not receiving cards were Colombia’s Camilo Villegas. The Jupiter resident who boasts  3 PGA Tour wins, including the 2010 Honda Classic, continue to struggle with his game and had to return to Q-School and missed his card by two shots. Villegas said he would hope for sponsor exemptions to try to get back his full status. South Floridians Jim Herman, Sunny Kim, Alan Morin, Dan McCarthy and Richard Johnson were also amongst the 140 players not earning status.
