Tour Edge Exotics XCG6 fairway (3-Wood)

The XCG6 fairway (3-wood) is the longest Exotics fairway wood yet. The new XCG6 fairway powerhouse design features a 15-3-3-3 beta titanium cup face, a high-density steel body and a tungsten sole plate that are combo-brazed for the ultimate in power and forgiveness.xcg6

The larger 15-3-3-3 beta titanium cup face provides to-the-limit COR even on off-center hits. The new, high-tech, high-density, steel body is almost as light as titanium allowing more mass to be place in the heel and toe areas of the sole. A heavy tungsten sole plate puts 65% of the total club head weight in the heel and toe areas for a higher moment-of-inertia, reduced club head twisting and greater forgiveness. Boomerang face technology offers multiple levels of variable face thickness that maximize the spring-like effect from more points on the face.xcg62

 Our Review

The technology behind the new XCG6 Fairway Wood is quite complex. The hot face of the club punches out great ball speed and less spin than previous Exotics products thanks in part to the the larger 15-3-3-3 beta titanium cup face that provides to-the-limit COR even on off-center hits. During our range session we noticed how balls seem to explode of the face of the club. The larger club head also provides extra confidence and was visually pleasing at set up. Our (2) models received directly from Tour edge were suited up with high performance shafts. Graphite Design Tour AD 40 (Stiff) and Matrix Ozik HD 6.1 (stiff)

Our launch monitor also indicated great numbers, balls were coming out of the face at an average of 145.9 mph (previous highest was 144.8 Exotics CB5) and a carry distance (wind aided) 243 yards. Average spin was also very low 3200 rpm. All three of us were very  impressed with the performance, forgiveness, looks and sound of the XCG6. In fact, our Tour Edge XCG6 outperformed 2 leading fairway woods previously tested, Tour Edge’s CB5 and our Taylormade’s Rocketballz 3-wood.
