TPC Blue Monster renovations expected until December 2013
TPC Blue Monster renovations are finally here! Dick Wilson’s masterpiece is finally getting the much needed facelift/transformation it deserves. Over the years our pride and joy golf course has changed from the Blue Monster to the Cookie Monster due in part by the technological advances in club and ball manufacturing. Owner Donald Trump has appointed Golf Course Architect Gil Hanse, who is also designing a brand new golf course in Rio de Janeiro for the Olympic Games, for a full renovation like no other in the history of the Blue Monster.

The new version of Doral’s Blue course will be the biggest overhaul of the TPC Blue Monster since the 1962 Doral Country Club Invitational. Some of the changes to include revamping of all greens and fairways with state of the art turf, all greens will have “severe” undulations, recreation of a semi-island green in hole #15 (Par-3), the extension of the driving range to accommodate more players and of course the extension of holes #1 (by as much as 80 yards), #10 (being pushed forward to accommodate extension of driving range and green also being pushed forward), #11 (extension of fairway bunker).
“I like being here and this course and this tournament has been good to me over the years,” said Tiger Woods hours after wining the 2013 Cadillac Championship. The course has been good to everybody the last decade but as of lately it has become a birdie fest. PGA Tour Professionals know that the wind is the only factor and with the new technology they can make the necessary adjustments in their equipment for a lower ball flight.
The Trump Organization already owns 10 golf courses in North America, Europe and the Caribbean, including the Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, ranked among the best in Florida. We rest assured that his changes in golf design to the TPC Blue Monster will bring a big bite to our old friend…
